The month of June’s PDI competition was cancelled due to one of this summer’s heatwaves, and it was rescheduled for September 10^th. 

This means that we have two competitions this month, a busy time for all concerned. On the competition front things are certainly warming up as we are now well into the digital competition year.  

This month has two categories one being an “Open” where members can submit images of their choice across a whole gambit of photographic genres, the other being the “Theme”, which was “Panel”.

August sees the Outlaws undertaking their fourth Projected Digital Image (PDI) competition of the year and things have started to warm up. Prior to this competition the leader was Lester Woodward with 132pts, second was Sue Hartley on 131 and Ray Andrews on 127pts. Which means that this month’s round has everything to play for.

The evenings judge was Sue Wilson, a NEMPF competition judge who some of the Outlaws had met on previous occasions. Sue offered constructive comments, suggestions and lots of detail especially if she thought an image could be improved. Sue is a member of Clay Cross Photographic Society

This summer season has seen the Outlaws make a number of trips out and about and yesterday evening we had a guided tour around Nottingham’s historic Lace Market Area with Graham Woodward the chairman of the Nottingham Civic Society.

The guided tour was very informative and interesting and we all learnt facts about an area that we thought we knew quite well. The tour also gave us the opportunity to take images of some of Nottingham’s oldest, grandest & quirky buildings. Our cameras were never far from hand and it was also a photographic tour on a local theme.

Notts Outlaw Patrick Wallis recently exhibited a selection of his nature print images at St James Church Mapperley.

I asked Patrick how he felt about having his very own personal exhibition and this is what he said. “Lat month I was asked if I would hold an exhibition of some of my nature photography at the St James Church, Summer Fair.  I printed and mounted twenty images and displayed them at both the Fair and in the church the following week.  I was approached by a member of the congregation who asked if they could purchase one which I was thrilled about. I then decided to make them all available to purchase and give any monies raised to the church maintenance fund.  I raised in excess of £600.00 which I thought was amazing. I am now out with my camera taking more images incase I get another opportunity to exhibit again”.
