We always like to celebrate fellow Outlaws achievements, whether they be within the club or elsewhere. Recently two of our members have had great success in their external photographic endeavours.

Outlaws “Stella” Quiz
Friday, June 22nd, 2012Last night saw the first (but, hopefully not the last) ‘Stella’ quiz.
Stella volunteered (?) way back to do the quiz thinking it was an easy option, I’m sure she’s now regretting it!
There was a good turn out and high expectations… .
The quiz continued with some very difficult and also local based questions, all in all very well put together.
The winner on the night was Paul Summers, our local ‘historian’ who has an in-depth knowledge of all things ‘Notty’ as he would say. Well done to Paul and thanks to all those others making up the numbers on what was an interesting and enjoyable evening. Special thanks also to Stella, what about a sequel next year?
Chairman’s Challenge July – ‘Self Portrait’
Sunday, June 10th, 2012Congratulations to Chris Newham for winning the Chairman’s Challenge with his hilarious shot of the fast food sign on Lindisfarne. We all had a really good chuckle (again) and it emerged as the clear winner on the night. Thanks to all the other members who also submitted entries…shame on those that didn’t!
I am fairly (?) confident of a good entry for this next challenge now you have seen the quality prizes on offer.
The new challenge is ‘Self Portrait’, I have set this as most of us need to improve our people photography, so, let the creativity flow and lets see some imaginative ideas. Closing date will be the end of July, I will send out reminders in due course.
Please send your entries direct to me (chairman@nops.org.uk) at the normal NOPS competition size, please note (Lester!) that only one entry is permitted per member.
Go on, give it a go.

2nd Print competition
Tuesday, June 5th, 2012Thursday 31 May saw the 2nd print competition of 2012, the judge, John McLean gave a different view point on things as he is a commercial photographer, rather than a “normal” NEMPF judge.
A good selection of images were shown, so John had his work cut out.

The Richard Balter Challenge Competition, hosted by Rushcliffe PS
Sunday, May 13th, 2012Dear Outlaws,Tuesday the 9th may was the date, Tollerton parish rooms the venue. 8 clubs from the NEMPF region took part.
Nottm & Notts, Worksop, Rushcliffe, Long Eaton, Outlaws, Derby PS, Melton Mowbray and Newark.
Clearly some big names from our federation, it was going to be tough. The competition is knockout style, for example any print knocked out in round 1 gets 1 point, round 2, 2 points etc. what turned out to be quite exciting as the competition developed.
Stop Motion Evening
Sunday, April 29th, 2012The recent stop motion evening at the Outlaws proved to be another successful one, with many people having a go at the technique. If you couldn’t make it and would like to know more about how you can get the same effect then just ask at the club and we’ll be happy to help! All you really need is your camera and a good imagination (and a computer to do the clever bit).
