Our annual pilgrimage to the Isle of Skye
Friday 30th November 2012
Left Bingham at 7.15pm, how much stuff do 3 photographers need? Car is rammed with camera bags, wellie’s, waders, boots, tripods, and clothes, destination; Car Park, Old Man of Storr, Isle of Skye, Scotland (up north). Sat Nav predicting 520 miles and arrival time of 3am! Wow, that’s a journey and a half. Scott driving (as always-bless him) off we went. Stopped en route for a drink, toilet break and bite (and fuel for the beast)

Rushcliffe PDI Open Competition 18th December 2012 – “A Judges Tale”
Wednesday, December 19th, 2012I was fortunate (?) enough to be chosen to judge the above annual event. All club members from our federation (N&EMPF) are invited to enter, sadly only 15 individuals put work forward, quite a low number but the quantity of images is then ‘topped-up’ from Rushcliffe PS members.
North & East Midlands Photographic Federation (N&EMPF) 2013 Annual Exhibition Report
Thursday, December 13th, 2012It is with great pleasure to report another record breaking achievement at the Outlaws. 37 clubs entered this years exhibition with a total of over 3000 images across all sections.
The Outlaws finished in 7th place overall, an outstanding result for what is essentially still a small club.
Our acceptances were as follows;
Melbourne Photographic Society vs Nottingham Outlaws Photographic Society
Thursday, November 15th, 2012Each year (well this is the 3rd) we have a friendly (?) battle with Melbourne PS, we have won the first 2 encounters, the last one being by just one point, even after several recounts!
This year they promised to avenge that narrow defeat……………………………
Scott Wilson ‘commended’ in 2012 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year competition
Monday, November 5th, 2012One of Scott’s dramatic flowerscape images – Rojo – was “commended” by judges in this year’s Landscape Photographer of the Year competition and won a place in the Awards book – Landscape Photographer of the Year : Collection 6 – which is published on October 31st.
The image has also been chosen for the Awards postcard pack that is produced to highlight the profile of the competition & photographers and will appear at the National Theatre exhibition which runs from November to January. The Sunday Times Magazine also pulled out Rojo in its exclusive ‘editor’s pick’ of the finalists.
KitKat trip to Morecambe (or was it the Lake District) 2012
Friday, October 26th, 2012So another year and another trip ends with a degree of sadness. After all that “looking forwards to it”, it is over.
A great trip as always although not a very inspiring location, most participants took to the Lake District or the North York moors for photo inspiration, so in all the location was reasonably central.
Chairmans Challenge July 2012
Thursday, August 16th, 2012This months theme of ‘Self Portrait’ inspired only a handful of entrants. It was interesting to see though that those of you that did bother came up with some very clever ideas. Michal (Tekel) with a self portrait without any human in it at all, Lesters scary half and half, Steve (Giles) pondering his fate over a cup of coffee and Rick’s studio set up all showed some creative flair, for me though Sue’s (Jackson) portrait of her face ‘being painted’ worked really well and was my winner.
Many thanks for all those that entered.
