DOUBLE TOPS Chris & Malcolm share the Print Outlaw of the Year Title
Congratulations go to Chris Houldsworth & Malcolm Nabarro who were both victorious and share the prestigious Print Outlaw of The Year title for 2025.
After a closely contested series of competitions across the year it all came down to the final event and just a few points separated both entrants.
The judge on the evening was Phil Newman of Bolsover Camera Club and he acknowledged that the quality of the images entered by The Outlaws was extremely high so we didn’t make it easy for either of them

EVENING CITYSCAPE by Chris Houldsworth
I spoke with both Chris & Malcolm post the event and asked then for some comments and firstly this is what Chris said;
“As competition secretary for the last few years I am naturally a great supporter of club competitions. They are the most visible manifestation of the activities of the club but I have never won “Outlaw of the Year” before now.
We have so many great photographers in the club and competition has been fierce this year. The title could have gone to any one (or more) of half a dozen photographers on the last night. I have particularly enjoyed the print competitions and the high standards achieved within the club prove it is still a medium with lots of life in it!”
Congratulations go to Chris from all of the Outlaws.

LISBON DAWN TRAM by Malcolm Nabarro
Malcolm Nabarro was the joint winner with Chris and this win makes him a double victor as he won the competition in 2024. After the winners were announced I spoke with Malcolm and this is what he had to say.
“The Premier League has nothing on NOPS! Throughout the whole of 2025 both the Print and DPI competitors have been nail-biters and this says much about the skill, enthusiasm and creativity of many of our members. I missed out on the DPI title by one point against our formidable chair Lois so I was delighted to retain the Print award, jointly with Chris Houldsworth.
It definitely seems apt to have joint winners after such a close contest.
NOPS is a relatively small club but it has developed a strong and dedicated group of excellent printing photographers which I would suggest marks the club out as being fairly unique.
For me printing is the culmination of the photographic process. The great American photographer Ansell Adams is quoted as saying “the negative is the rehearsal, the print is the performance” and translated into the digital age, where we see endless numbers of digitally produced images on screens, I think the care and vision needed to print, mount and present an image takes our art to a higher level.
Not all will agree of course and I appreciate there is a cost element but I’m a great believer in size, as in large, should not be a barrier. Printing at A4 brings the process closer to many who only own a regular A4 printer and mounted on the regulation 500×400 mount board, I think it works very well. I hope Camera Club Judges will accept this. Congratulations to Chris; I am honoured to share the crown with him this year”.

That wraps up the 2025 Print Outlaw of the year season for another year. Congratulations go to both of the winners and all of the entrants for showing such great quality prints and images.
We cant wait for the 2026 season to start!
