JetSki Racing Derbyshire

Church Wilne reservoir in Derbyshire was the venue for the Jet Ski Racing Association (JSRA.co.uk) British JetSport Championship, round one competition. The event was scheduled for mid April, we had been regularly checking the JRSI website to gleam information on the location, protocols and how to access the venue.

Racing was over two days (Saturday & Sunday) and Reg first visited on the Saturday, taking lots of images as well as understanding the protocols and making several contacts with riders and organisers. On the Sunday several Outlaws (Reg, Ray, Nigel & Sally) visited Church Wilne determined to get some fast & furious action shots and they were not disappointed. Long lenses were pointed at the action as the brightly coloured jet ski’s thundered around the reservoir circuit at tremendous speeds. The circuit was marked out with large coloured buoys and required the riders to lean over as if they were riding a motorcycle around a very tight corner, the jetSki riders very much mimicked this style. The water wake that trailed as the jetSki’s turned and weaved around the buoys was high & impressive and at times creating rainbow effects.

The day was quite cloudy but cameras were set with high shutter speeds, fast wind on action and long reach lenses as these settings were all required to take images that paid justice to the skills of the JetSki riders.

Below is a slideshow which features a selection of images from all of the Outlaws that attended the event. and a number of the images have been supplied to the JRSI for publication on their Facebook pages. A great day out was had bye all, some cracking photos taken and new relationships forged.
