March Print Competition – Open and Themed
On 24th March we held our first Print competition of the year, at St James Church Centre, and we welcomed Dave Hollingsworth as our judge for the evening.
There were 33 entries in each of the open and themed (Monochrome) sections. Dave complimented the club on having a fine selection of images, covering a range of subjects. Which led to 12 images being held in the open section and 14 in the themed.
Scores of 17 were scored by 10 members with Nigel Stewart, Ray Andrews and Tabby having two photographs each. Lois Webb scored 18 for Weariness, as did Chris Houldsworth for Beached Boats, Malcolm Nabarro for Cosmos and Friend, John Young for both Fun for All and Strasbourg and Andy McDonald for Vanishing Point. Nigel Stewart scored 19 for Long Tailed Tit on Hawthorn Branch, as did Lester Woodward for Smoking, Lois Webb for Bee Wolf and Prey and Patrick Wallis for Goldeneye. Chris Houldsworth scored 20 for Broadchurch. The winner of the open section for the evening with 20 points was Lester Woodward with Parasol Girl.
The theme for this month was Monochrome. There were eleven scores of 17, with Tabby’s 3 entries all getting 17 points. Chris Houldsworth scored 18 with the Crossing at Wells Cathedral as did john Young with Fortified, Nigel Stewart with High & Dry and Wait for Me Daddy and Andy McDonald with Waiting for Punters. 19 was scored by Chris Houldsworth with Waiting, Lester Woodward with In the Curves and The Night Shops, Lois Webb with Drift Wrecks, and Malcolm Nabarro who scored 19 for all three of his pictures Time Out, Toward Ingleborough and Young Dreamer. John Young for Steaming In and Lois Webb for The Staircase Between were both awarded 20 points and the winner of the themed section being The Staircase Between by Lois.
