Latest NOPS outlaw of the year competition report
Following Thursdays round of the NOPS Outlaws of the Year competition, John Young presents his usual summary of the evenings proceedings…
The May round of the Outlaw of the Year competition was held on 30th May. We were pleased to welcome Sue Wilson back to the club as our judge. Sue was kept busy with 36 open entries and 26 entries for this month’s theme ‘Opposites’ Sue did an excellent job and gave an informed commentary on our images. Well done to all entrants and thank you for giving us an excellent evening viewing our images.
In the open section scores of 16 went to Malcolm Nabarro for boy racer, Christine Sweeney for her ingenious composite image entitled Quadruplicated and Jack Worsnop for timeout. Scores of 17 went to John Young for Done Fishing, Malcolm Nabarrow again for Reflect on this, Tabby for her pattern shot entitled The Wheel, Patrick Wallis for Batsman Anticipation and Lester Woodward for both Flour Jump and Udaipur Lady. Well done to Tom Cross who scored two eighteens for Half a Twin and Romax Technology Centre. Scores of 19 went to Chris Houldsworth for his moody shot called Homeward Bound, Jack Worsnop for Simian Contemplation and Elizabeth Bromley for The Louis Vuitton Gallery, Paris by Frank Gerry- The Art of Architecture. I think she should get an extra prize for the longest image title. There were four scores of twenty given to John Young for Painted Southwold, Lois Webb for It’s my Ball and a double top score given to Elizabeth Bromley for Hanging Out and the winning image Lunch Orders.
In the themed competition scores of 16 went to Elizabeth Bromley again for Crossing the Threshold between Dark and Light, Tom Cross for Wollaton Hall Summer and Winter and Malcolm Nabarrow for Officers and Men. 17 was scored by Chris Houldsworth for Convex and Concave and Lester Woodward for Dead and Alive. 18 was scored by Elizabeth Bromley for Standing Opposite and Lois Webb for both her Day and Night and her Glass Half Full Glass Half Empty. Lois also scored 19 for Old Lanes to New Heights as did Tabby for her clever image Chalk and Cheese and Elizabeth again for Opposites- Utility and Ornament. There were three scores of 20 given to Chris Houldsworth for his Baroque and Modern and Lester Woodward for both his Light and Dark and his winning image called Black and White Pencils.
