Report on the first Outlaws PDI competition of the year.

Following Thursday’s club competition, internal competition secretary John Young presents his report on an evening that saw some fantastic images on show in the Outlaws clubroom.

On 23rd February we held our first leg of the Outlaw of the Year PDI competition. The open section had 34 entries and this month’s theme, ‘Umbrellas’, had 19 entries. Phil Howcroft, who was the judge for the evening, did an excellent job and gave useful and encouraging comments.

In the open section Chris Houldsworth, George Reilly and Sue Jackson all scored a 17 and Stella Newman picked up two 17’s.  18 went to Chris Houldsworth for his ‘Tram to Clifton’, Ray Andrews for his ‘Misty Morning’ and John Young for his ‘Abandoned’. 19 was awarded to John Hodgkinson for his detailed shot of ‘Welsh Valley’ and Lois Webb for her atmospheric ‘Boxer’.  Lois also scored a 20 for her colourful ‘Sunrise at Cocklawburn Beach’. The top image for the evening was in the open section and awarded to Lester Woodward for his ‘Behind You’.

In the themed section George Reilly and Lois Webb scored a 17. Steve Roper gained an 18 for ‘Opening time’ and Brian Thorley got 18 for ‘Brolly One’. Lester Woodward got 19 for his portrait ‘Parasol Girl’ and the section winner was Steve Roper with his ‘Brolly Structure’.
