NOPS milestone Birthday evening

30 years after the very first Nottingham Outlaws PS meeting held in a pub in Arnold, club members celebrated this special birthday at the clubroom in Carlton. Chairman George Reilly presents a report and slideshow highlighting the evenings celebration…

Happy 30th Birthday to NOPS

The 5th January saw the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Nottingham Outlaws Photographic Society. The first meeting was held on the evening of the 8th January 1987.

We were lucky to have had good weather, which resulted in a great turn out for the event. We were also lucky to have some former members in the form of Steve Cross (1997) and his wife attend on the night making the evening a great evening. Sadly we could not get Alf Hitchcock to the event due to health reasons and we all hope that he gets fit and well soon.

In addition to the birthday celebrations, I as the chairman was, was privileged to be able to present to Steve ROPER his APAGB, an accolade that cannot be worked towards by any form other than longevity and dedication to NOPS, N&EMPF and the PAGB.

Steve is the last of our founding members, who without his vision, drive and determination, the club would not exist. Assisted by Ken MONKHOUSE and David CAWTHAN the NOPS club has travelled though 30yrs, it cannot be said without the odd bump and stumble, but we’re still here and function as the remit required: – We are a friendly club, welcoming all to the hobby of photography.  Photography is for everyone, irrespective of gender, age, experience or skill level. Long may we continue.

For those that could not make the event, I’m sorry that you couldn’t be there; you would have been made very welcome.

Included are images of the evening celebrations and the presentation of Steve’s APAGB certificate.

Bring on 2017!!!!!

George Reilly
