NOPS 5th projected image competition report
As another club competition draws to a close, Competition Secretary John Young presents his take on the evenings events.
We had our fifth 2015 projected image competition on Thursday 29 October. After a long absence we were pleased to welcome back Les Nixon as our judge. As usual, the images entered were all of a high standard and we enjoyed seeing them and listening to Les’ comments. I am always pleased that people such as Les are willing to give up their time to judge club competitions. We would be in great difficulty were it not for this band of brave volunteers. The theme of Movement and Motion brought forth a wide variety of entries with some quiet abstract images as well as the usual types of image for this theme.
The open section and overall competition winner went to Lois Webb’s ‘Grandad are we Ready Yet’, an excellent photograph of dog that portrayed a real story. Bob Richard’s ‘Passengers on a Bus’ and Paul McKinley’s ‘Open Wide’ scored 19 and George Reilly, Lois Webb and Lester Woodward all scored 18 for one of their images.
The themed section was won by Tom Cross with his ‘Family on the move. A second 20 was awarded to Michal Tekel for his “I believe I can Fly”. This was an excellent image that depicted so well the theme of movement and motion. Sue Jackson gained a 19 for her wonderfully timed shot entitled ‘Hair Spray’ and Bob Richards also gained a 19 for his waterfall shot ‘Cooling Down’. Scores of eighteen went to George Reilly (his second 18 on the night) and Lois Webb to compliment her win from the open section.
