Kit Kat 2014
Having braved the rainy weather in the Lake District for the Outlaws’ annual trip last year, it was decided to head south in 2014 with the vague hope that Dorset’s Jurassic Coast in September would offer sunnier climes. The Premier Inn in Weymouth was deemed a suitable venue, having the capacity to accommodate us all and being in a convenient location for photographic sites such as Durdle Door, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove & Swanage pier, to name but a few.
Members old and new were canvassed and people were added to the list, taken off again, and added on again, until we finally had all the names of those ready and able to throw caution to the winds and join our happy band. Then the fun really started. Who was able to go for how many nights, who preferred single rooms, who wanted to share, and who were they happy to share with? Miraculously the numbers finally tallied, and the rooms were booked and confirmed. We’re sure it won’t take long for our secretary’s hair to grow back, and her head doesn’t hurt any more now she’s stopped banging it against the brick wall…
So it is then that, sixteen of us will be dusting off our cameras, cleaning our lenses and formatting our memory cards ready for a few days of fun, friendship and photography. The sensible ones will also be checking that their insurance policies are up-to-date, as equipment has occasionally been known to come to a sticky end on these trips, especially when photographing water is involved. We’re all looking forward to it very much – watch this space later in the year to read an account of the trip and view the resulting photographs.
