NOPS 5th Print competition report

After Thursdays successful fifth and final printed image competition of the year, Competition Secretary John Young presents his report. Well done to all participants.

We held our 5th print competition on 26th November. As usual there was an open section and a themed section. This month’s theme was negative space. Thanks go to judge Bill Hall who gave wise words of wisdom and an excellent critique of the entries. The competition was well supported with and entry of thirty open images and twenty seven themed images. It is very noticeable that our competitions bring forth a wide breadth of genres of photography and a high standard of images. We of course welcome entries from all of our members. The overall and themed section winner this time was Bob Richards with one of his studio portraits ‘Not Guilty’. Lester won the open section with ‘Calotes Calotes’. Scores of 19 in the theme section went to John Purchase for ‘Alone’ and Lester Woodward for ‘Indian Prince’. Scores of 18 went to Bob Richards for ‘I say a Little Prayer for you’, Lois Webb for her well seen image ‘The Emperer’s Dias’ and John Hodgkinson for ‘Looking Back’. In the open section 19s went to John Purchase for ‘Summer Love’, Lois Webb for ‘Worldly Weathered’ and Lester Woodward for the ‘Charcoal Seller’. A score of 18 went to ‘The Scoop’ by John Purchase ‘Lady in Red’ and ‘I Take my Hat off to you’ both by Bob Richards. Well done to all entrants, you all provided us with an enjoyable set of images.
