  • Ken Monkhouse

Ken Monkhouse died on the 16th of January 2012, aged 73.

He was one of the three Founder members of the Nottingham Outlaws Photographic Society, and its first Chairman. During his time with the Outlaws he also held a number of other positions on the committee, namely Secretary, Programme Secretary, Vice Chairman and Members Secretary. It was he who found our first venue and our current venue, he coordinated our marketing media, collected and delivered our images for battles with other clubs and for exhibitions, and manned the first exhibitions that we held.
He played a major part in setting out the policies, competition rules and club programme, forging links with other photographic clubs, securing our acceptance into NEMPF, manufacturing the clubs first annual trophies and the individual (keepsake) trophies. In short, Ken was instrumental in setting the basis of the club that we know today.
He leaves behind two daughters, Melanie and Keren, son Ian, and granddaughter Molly to whom we would like to convey our sincerest and heartfelt condolences.

He was an inspiration to many people, and a lovely man. He will be sorely missed and is a great loss to our Society.

  • Chairman’s challenge – September

Congratulations to Les who won last months competition.

Les has decided that being a gadget freak the theme will be ‘My Favourite Gadget’, this does not have to be top studio product images but Les is expecting a bit of creativity even if it’s taking a shot of your latest fab camera through a mirror.

The level of entries last month was disappointing so please get out there, take some shots and give Les plenty of entries to select from, either email your image to Les or send a link to it’s location on Flickr or other photo sharing site. Good luck.

  • Chairman’s Challenge – August

Congratulations to Jonathan who won last months Chrirman’s challenge, Jonathan  has chosen “Something about me” for this months subject.

Jonathans definition of this is: That being self-portraits, but it must contain an aspect of your life which tells a story. This could be a hobby, your job, places you like to visit, etc.

For inspiration just google “self-portrait ideas”, there are loads online. I hope to receive an entry from everyone, that way I can put a name to a face for every one of you, as I am pretty bad at remembering names at times :)

So get out there, take some shots and give Jonathan plenty of entries to select from, either email your image to Jonathan or send a link to it’s location on Flickr or other photo sharing site.

  • Chairman’s Challenge – July

Congratulation’s to Scott who won last months competiton with his puffin shot.

Scott has chosen ‘contre jour’ as the subject…. A picture taken into the light.

So get out there, take some shots and give Scott plenty of entries to select from, either email your image to Scott or send a link to it’s location on Flickr or other photo sharing site.

  • Chairman’s Challenge – June

Congratulation’s to Chris Newham who won last months chairman’s challenge although it wasnt difficult as he was the only entrant!

To encourage a wider selection of entries Chris has selected (live) Animals as this month’s theme, so no stuffed animals etc.

Either email your image to Chris or send a link to it’s location on Flickr or other photo sharing site.

Let’s hope Chris gets plenty of entries to select from, get clicking.
