Outside Event - Iremongers Pond, Wilford

Iremongers Pond can be found on the south bank of the River Trent, directly south of the centre of Nottingham City Centre in the Village of Wilford, at the junction of Main Road and Coronation Avenue.
The pond can be easily accessed from the new "Wilford Village Tram Stop" with the Ferry Pub one one side and the pond on the other.
Examples of the bird-life photographed on and around the pond are: Swans, Moorhens, Great Crested Grebes, Tufted Ducks, Mallards Kingfisher, Cormorants, Herons, there are also insects such as Dragonflies, Damselflies, Butterflies.

Lecture via Zoom - Long Exposure Photography

Antony Zacharias is an award-winning photographer based in London who is particularly known for his long-exposure, architectural, travel and night photography. He has published 4 books with Ammonite Press including Mastering Long Exposure (also with National Geographic) and Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Taking Better Photographs. His work has been commissioned by Toyota US and Sky Atlantic, and published by the BBC, CBS, Guardian, Times, and Ecologist. Antony regularly gives talks and teaches both private students and intimate masterclasses in the UK and abroad. He is also a brand ambassador for Hoya Global and BenQ. He is a Hasselblad Masters Finalist 2021 for Architecture.Tonight he will be giving us tips on how to get the best from long exposure photography.

One Roll Night/Mobile Phone Night

This is an exercise to get us to think about what and how we take photographs and try to get it right in camera. We all take 24 shots and show them unedited, in two weeks time (if members wish, they can edit the images and then show both on the night). Alternatively you can just use your mobile phone.

Match it Competition Night

Members bring along a selection of images, they are then divided into two teams and then each team takes it in turn to show an image, and the opposing team has to try to match that image as closely as possible. The judges decision is final!

Outside Event - Sherwood Observatory Visit

Sherwood Observatory, Coxmoor Rd, Sutton-in-Ashfield NG17 5LF, UKMansfield and Sutton Astonomical Society will be our hosts at Sherwood Observatory. Sited on one of the highest points in Nottinghamshire we will be shown the telescope and given a talk which includes information about astrophotography. Please meet at the observatory. Tour booked to start at 7:30pm so please to be on time.

Club Competition - David Cawthan Memorial Trophy Competition

St James Church, Marshall Hill Dr, Mapperley, Nottingham NG3 6FY, UKThe aim of this competition is to show your overall competency in different genres of photography.This competition has two sections; the Print section and the Projected Digital Image (PDI) section. Full rules are on the members section of the NOPS Website.
You may enter both the Projected Digital Image (PDI) section and the Print section, or if you prefer you can just enter one section. You must enter a portfolio consisting of six images into any section that you enter.
Each section entry must contain photographs from a variety of genres (at least 4 genres). Example genres are:- Landscape, Portrait, Natural History, Sport, Macro, Street Photography, Reportage, Abstract.
This is a suggested list of genres but not a complete or exclusive list.Judges will be asked to judge all six prints or PDIs as one portfolio. Critique can be offered on any individual image within the portfolio, but the entire portfolio must be judged as a single unit.
Entries must be submitted to the competition secretary at least one week before hand, and prints handed in on the night at least 15 minutes before the start of the competition.

Trophy Night
