Outside Event - Papplewick Ponds
April 22, 2021 @ 7:45 pm - 10:00 pm
Papplewick Pumping Station, Rigg Ln, Ravenshead, Nottingham NG15 9AJ, UKPractical night at Papplewick Ponds, meet 7:30.
Transferred from last years programme.
It's hoped that this will be a good weather evening and we will meet at either the car park near oppose Papplewick Pumping Station, (link - https://www.google.com/maps/@53.0620721,-1.122905,16z)
or there are lay-bys at the top of the ponds between the A614 roundabout and the Papplewick turn on on Longdale Lane. The location is fairly flat, has a good path structure but you'll still need suitable footwear and clothing for the event, so keep an eye on the weather.
This is normally a great location for macro, bugs, flowers, wildlife etc. gets a great sunset (if there is one on the night) and as the evening cools the wildlife can become more sedate.
If you're new to macro, or feel it's not you're thing, I urge you all to come along an have a go. It's never totally 100% guaranteed or easy, but it's certainly great fun.
Costs - Members £0.00 - Non Members £3.00

Lecture - Light Painting & Little People by David Gilliver
June 3, 2021 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Zoom Virtual meeting or Richard Herrod Centre"Prepare to enter a world where stems of broccoli appear as large as trees, and surreal light-sculptures inhabit familiar landscapes”. David's colourful imagination will be on full display during this presentation, and he will discuss in detail both his inspirations and the technical considerations he makes when creating this work."
David is a respected professional photographer and artist who specialises in macro photography (the ‘Little People’ / TOYS) and long-exposure photography (the art of ‘light painting’). His work has received some very welcome attention over the years which has led to him becoming involved in some very exciting projects all over the world. Highlights of the past couple of years include having some of his photography stocked by John Lewis, as well as now having some of his work sailing around the world on the amazing AIDA cruise ships.
In 2018 David took the plunge and became a full-time Photographer and Artist. As well as regularly exhibiting his work, the backbone of his business is centred on running Creative Photography Workshops which he teaches to fellow photographers, and in late 2018 he also started travelling the country and teaching his Workshops in schools across Scotland.
