Years into photography 30+
Got the bug when my wife to be bought me a Praktica L2 camera as an engagement present. I bet she regrets doing it now as she is the ultimate ‘Photographers Widow’.
I have varied likes but like Natural History and Landscapes. I arise early every morning to go to work so tend to do the same whilst not going to work. Love being in the countryside and everything natural.
Also partial to Motorsport but I will try anything, not sure if I have a speciality but I really do need to take more ‘People’ pictures.
Love having the time to take pictures and enjoy holidays and club trips for this reason. Club trips are especially enjoyable as you are also with like minded people so you can eat, sleep and talk all things photography all the time without fear of boring your audience.
Use Canon EOS cameras, current digital is a 40D after ‘breaking’ my 20D (see separate story later), use a variety of lenses but mostly my wide zoom (10-22) and long zoom (100-400) seem to be my favorites. Also got a 500mm f4 but you need separate tripod etc so tends to be a more ‘considered’ use lens.
Still a film user and use An EOS 1VHS camera which I love to bits, its so fast (10fps+) and rugged that as long as they make film I will continue to use it.
Favorite accessory is probably a Lastolite collapsible reflector which is great for Macro work and Fungus etc, have been known to use 2 to ‘gather’ the sunlight and bounce it into images.
Use Photoshop to process images, normal tweaks are levels, contrast and sharpening, don’t claim to be an expert, I also enjoy printing my images to A3+ size using an Epson R2400 printer.
Use Lowepro bags and Manfrotto tripods.
