NOPS September print competition results

With summers end drawing ever closer and autumn weather threatening, the competition evening at the Outlaws club room could not be hotter as 71 image entries contested in an event that refused to have its spirits dampened!
As usual, internal competition secretary John Young presents his report on Thursdays proceedings…

We were very pleased to welcome Richard Houghton to the club
as judge for our September print competition. He faced a mammoth task with 37
entries in the open and 34 in this month’s theme which was Rural Landscape.
Richard gave us an expert and interesting commentary on our images and we thank
him.

In the open scores of 18 went to Elizabeth Bromley for Caught in the Light
and Chris Houldsworth for Running Before the Storm. 19 went to Malcolm Nabarro
for Gothic Arches and Chris again for Homeward Bound. There were three scores
of 20 awarded to Lois Webb for Shoreline Saviours, Nigel Stewart for Aslam of
Ooty and the winning image by Lois again entitled High Jump.

In the themed section scores of 18 went to Lois again for Yunnan
Mountain Farms, John Young for Almeria Windmill and Malcolm Nabarro again for
Contemplating Snowdon. Three 19s went to William Woolley for The Lonely Picnic
Bench and Chris Houldsworth for The Wind That Shakes the Barley. There were two
scores of 20 both awarded to Jack Worsnop for Country House and the winning
image Watermill. Wow Jack… first and second! Well done.

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to all our
entrants for giving us a most enjoyable evening of viewing great images. Thanks
again to Richard our excellent judge.
