Magazine publication for NOPS member

Congratulations to our very own Bob Richards who has had his image ‘As One Door Closes’ published in the autumn edition of the Creative Portrait Magazine.

Creative Portrait Magazine is a very special publication in aid of MD UK which is a charity that relies on donations to help support those 70,000 suffering from debilitating muscle wasting diseases here in the UK.

The magazine was founded by Gemma Woodall who, following a diagnosis of Muscular Dystrophy, decided to set up a magazine with a difference. Creative Portrait features a wealth of inspiring and stunning portrait images from an eclectic selection of photographers so it really is a pleasure to announce that Bobs image has been selected to appear in the publication.

AS ONE DOOR CLOSES by Bob Richards

I asked Bob for a little bit of background on the image and he was happy to oblige saying:

“That image was taken about a year ago at Withamside House near Lincoln, which is a private mansion rented out to TV-commercial makers (eg Interflora) and photographers. This was a group photoshoot involving around 10 each of models and photographers, shooting at various locations in and around the house.

The model is Nikki Webster and I hadn’t met or worked with her before that day so we didn’t have much time to plan the shoot. After we had done a shoot in the garden she followed me back into the house to review our images. As she came through the door and the light shone through her dress I knew we had one we just had to do there in the doorway!

We both love that image and a few weeks ago Nikki submitted it to the Creative Portrait who liked it too. The editor, Gemma Woodall, contacted me asking me to release the image for publication – which I was only too pleased and flattered to authorise.”

This only goes to prove the fact that often great images can be captured when you least expect it and that if you see it and it looks good, capture it!

Bobs stunning image featuring model Nikki Webster can be found on page 18 of issue 9 (the autumn edition) of the magazine, a preview of which is available on the ISSUU website.
