How long have you been a photographer?

My parents gave me my first camera when I was 11 years old. Soon after that, with help of my dad I built my own darkroom and processed black and white snaps myself. It was magical time… Since then, I was hooked and photography was big interest of mine.

First camera?
ELIKON – Russian camera (www.sovietcams.com) very interesting piece of technology at that time, it must still be somewhere in my parents house. I have to find it!

Current camera?

3 analog bodies:
Nikon F70
Nikon Fm2 – my all time favorite
Nikon F5

Digital body:
Nikon D700

Favorite photographic genre?

Better say that I’m not so keen on macro and still life stuff….
Most people know me as a landscape photographer.

What are your influences/favorite photographers?

Oh, that’s very hard question and I think it depends on the genre.

Landscape masters: Ansel Adams, Gallen Rowel, Joe Cornish, Michael Kenna
Portraits: Yousuf Karsh, Annie Liebowitz
Fashion: Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon
Reportage: Henry Cartier Bresson, Sebastiao Salgado

If I have to choose one, it has to be Slovak photographer Karol Kallay.

Is there anybody or anything you would love to photograph?

My list of places is endless.
But most of all, I would like to go to Mongolia and photograph landscapes and people there. Hopefully one day….
